The St. Philip Neri
Grandparents Club was established in 2006.
It is open to grandparents (and great
grandparents!) of all the children of SPN
school. Our meetings are held on the 2nd
Thursday of the month at 9:30 AM in the
Parishoners Center. Our mission is to come
together to serve God by serving the needs
of the school and the Church,while building
a sense of fellowship and togetherness.
At our meetings, we are updated about
all school and parish events. Our members
are asked to volunteer for activities that
are provided specifically for the children,
such as Santa's Secret Shop, Young Ladies
Tea and Style Show, and bake sales or
raffles. We have also hosted Trunk or Treat
events at Halloween. Our members also work
hand in hand with the Mens Club and the
Ladies Co-op in the parish-wide activities
such as the annual May Fair, Oktoberfest,
Crawfish Cook-Off and Lenten Fish Fry.
We often have a local speaker at our
meetings, but allow plenty of time for
sharing with one another and enjoying
refreshments. A special event is the
Grandparents Mass,which is held for a
different grade each month. We have also
started to plan "field trips" for members,
such as visiting the Blessed Seelos shrine
in New Orleans, or meeting for lunch.
